On Tuesday, we got to explore water in the STEAM lab. We had five different stations that we could rotate through and learn something about water at each one. The first station was sink or float. The kids had predict whether each item was going to sink or float. Then, they got to see if there predictions were correct when they put it in the water. The second station was predicting how the water would fit in each container. They same amount of water was poured into different size containers so they could see what the water looked like in each. The third station talked about repelling and absorbing. The kids had to predict if water would repel or absorb for each one. They would see if they were correct by putting a little water on the object. The fourth station they had to create their own boat out of aluminum foil. Once they made their boat, they would put pennies on it to see how many they could add before it would sink. Some of them were made well enough where the boat could still float even after putting all their pennies on it. The fifth station talked about the water cycle and what would make ice melt the fastest. They would put one in the sun, add salt to another, and rub their hands over one and see whose melted the quickest. We really appreciate all those that came to help us! You do a wonderful job teaching and working with the kids. They loved our water lab!!
