Today we read a nonfiction book called Autumn Leaves. In the book, it talks about how leaves change in the Fall and the different shapes, sizes, etc. of different leaves. After reading the book, we decided we would go on a leaf hunt around school to see if we could find some of the leaves that were in the book. Unfortunately, John B. Dey doesn't have as great a variety as other places, especially compared to if we were in the mountains. We managed to find leaves though and from there could let our creativity flow. We had the kids make their leaves into anything they wanted to them to be. Then, they tried to write the sentence My leaf is a ____. I have to say we were really impressed with some of the things they came up with; a lion, sting ray, dog, etc. and even a chicken. We are so proud of how far these kids have come already!
