We had a busy and exciting day October 13th. Not only did Mrs. Patterson come to visit our classroom, but my sister, Ms. Coleman came as well. Some of you might already know, but Ms. Coleman is an art education major at Old Dominion University. They were on Fall break Monday and Tuesday, so she asked if she could come do a lesson with my class. Of course I said yes! Ms. Coleman read a book called Ruby's Falling Leaves. In the book, Ruby tells us that the reason this season is called Fall is because the leaves fall off the trees. Since Ms. Coleman loves art, she helped the students make Fall trees using a stencil made with toliet paper rolls. She taught the students how to use the stencils and helped them along the way. If some of the leaves did not have paint inside them, she showed them how they could fill in the leaves with a paint brush. The trees came out great and are hanging in our classroom now. I love all the Fall colors they bring to our classroom! Thank you Ms. Coleman for coming to read to us and help us do an art project. It was a lot of fun!
